Community Partnerships
Mimosa Studios started building community partnerships in 2001, inviting neighborhood children to paint free tiles which now hang in two large panels outside the shop’s doors. Over the 20 years Mimosa has been in business, the studio has donated hundreds of items and projects to the community.
In addition to her own studio, Raglione has helped install tile murals in front of Grasshopper Children’s Store, to honor owner Kara Larson, at the DePaul Youth Center and at the VOA Men’s Residential Center in the Eliot neighborhood. Owner Austin Raglione is currently donating a tile mural project for cancer patients attending Harmony Hill Cancer Retreats.
‘Now, more than ever, we need to come together and help care for each other. Our motto is: it’s cool to be kind. It’s one thing to talk the talk but I really feel we walk the walk. It’s something that is very important to me.’

How Mimosa Gives Back
-
Donating
Mimosa Studios donates in three ways: First, by donating gift certificates to schools, community organizations and non-profits to help raise money via auctions and other events. Second, by donating painting projects and services to organizations helping kids and families succeed. And third, by offering discounts to all mentoring program participants, classrooms and schools.
-
Fundraising
For the past 3 years Mimosa Studios has been donating a portion of their holiday proceeds to Raphael House. At other times of the year, Mimosa Studios helps fundriase for Albina Head Start, the Oregon Humane Society, Rose Haven, the Al Forthan Scholarship and many others. Over the last 20 years, Mimosa has donated over $10,000 in proceeds to local organizations.

Engaging
Engaging in the community is a cornerstone of Mimosa Studios’ mission. Numerous painting projects have been donated over the years including a tile mural painted by clients of the VOA Men’s Residential Treatment Center and another currently being done by cancer patients at Harmony Hill. These organizations are especially important to Austin as she is a cancer survivor and sober person.
