FAQ
How does painting your own pottery work?
It’s easy! You just pick the pottery piece you want to paint (the hard part is choosing — we have over 200 different styles to choose from). We show you how to use the paints and help you with ideas. You leave the finished piece with us and we glaze and fire it for you. Then, you pick up your finished pottery in 2-6 days.
Do you allow food and drinks in the studio?
We do not allow food in the studio during our regular hours, as it causes the glaze reject and not stick to the pottery if any gets on it, which would be bad! We do allow food and drink for after hours parties!
How much does it cost?
Each piece is priced separately and the cost includes everything — the paint, glazing, firing and studio time. You can use as many colors as you like. Small tiles and ornaments start at $7. Check out our price list to get an idea of our prices.
Is it safe to eat off my finished pottery?
Yes! The finished pieces are completely food safe. However, we do not recommend the dishwasher or microwave. Our paints are non-toxic and are totally safe for young children and for making a baby hand and footprints.
Do you fire ceramic items from other studios?
Unfortunately, we do not. We cannot be sure that the pottery and glazes are compatible with our kiln’s firing temperature. We recommend taking your ceramics to our friends at Georgies on NE Lombard!
Do I need a reservation to paint?
Reservations are highly recommended, especially during the holiday season. Also, weekends are usually much busier than weekdays. Walk-ins are welcome if we're not already booked out for the day. Give us a call at 503-288-0770 to reserve your space or contact us via email.
Are kids welcome?
Of course! We are extremely family-friendly! Our motto is: if you can hold a brush, you can paint! And of course we do baby hand and foot prints for even our smallest customers. Give us a call and we’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have: 503-288-0770.
Can I host a party or event at the studio?
Absolutely! Check our our events page for more details.
Do you actually serve mimosas and other alcoholic beverages?
We know the name is super misleading, but we unfortunately cannot offer drinks.
What payments do you accept?
We take card and contactless payments like tap or apple pay! We unfortunately do not accept cash payments, and do not keep cash on the premises.
What is a To Go Kit?
You can now take the studio with you!
Shop using our online store or stop by in person to see our selection of bisque ware. Along with your ceramics, you’ll receive your choice of paint colors, some supplies and a set of painting instructions. When you’re finished painting, simply return all of your items to the studio and we’ll fire them for you!
Do I have to know how to paint?
Absolutely not! It’s fun, it’s easy and we can show you everything you need to know!
I’m traveling from out of town. Can you send me my finished piece?
Yes! We ship finished pottery using priority mail and just charge the normal rates charged by the post office.
Do you offer clay-throwing classes?
Sadly no. We do not have a big enough studio to give that art the space it deserves, but once again, we love recommending our friends at Georgies for that service. We are beginning host some handbuilding classes on occasion, as well as are now offering clay impression handprints!
